Students can progress on this course after completing the BTEC Level 2 qualification or if they have achieved 5+ GCSE grades 5 and above, or the equivalent.
This course is designed to deepen students understanding of how a range of components work closely together to ensure and develop optimum sporting performance of athletes. You will build on your work experience in year two by carrying out a high quality work placement at an approved sports facility.
Units covered include: Principles of Anatomy and physiology, Assessing risk in sport, Fitness training and programming, Sports Coaching and Development and more.
Progression includes university entry, UK and Overseas Scholarships and Full-time work in the Sports and Fitness industry.
Career opportunities include playing and coaching in professional sports, Personal Training, Sports Therapy, Teaching in schools/colleges, Physiotherapist and more.
