Adult Education Budget

The Adult Education Budget is a fully funded programme provided by the government that is accessible to employers and individuals, funding a huge range of training. This programme is a great opportunity for employers to upskill their workforce and for individuals to kick-start their careers free of charge. The Adult Education Budget has some eligibility regulations that need to be met in order for an individual to commence training.

Who is eligible for the Adult Education Budget?

In order to be eligible to commence training within the Adult Education Budget, you must be within the following requirements:

  • An individual aged 19 to 23 can achieve a level 2 or 3 qualification if they don't have one
  • AEB can be used to fund low-waged individuals (less than £21,575 gross annual salary) aged over 24 to get their first level 2 or 3 qualification
  • AEB can be used to fund anyone who is unemployed for any course or qualification up to level 2
  • AEB can be used to fund any low-waged individual (less than £21,575 gross annual salary), whose first language isn't English, to improve their language skills up to level 2
  • AEB can be used to fund level 2 English and Maths for anyone over the age of 19

Advanced Learner Loan

As part of a Government-backed initiative, the Advanced Learner Loan is a flexible way for students over the age of 19 to pay their course fees. You pay back your loan (plus interest) when you finish your course and earn more than £27,295 a year. There are no credit checks and applications are not dependent on your income.

How many loans can I take out?

You can apply for up to 4 loans and you can get more than one at the same time.

You can apply for another loan to take the same level of a course, for example the same level qualification in Adult Care if you've already had a loan for the same level in Business.

You can only apply once for an Access to Higher Education course.

To qualify you must be:

  • aged 19 or over on the first day of your course (there's no upper age limit)
  • living in the UK on the first day of your course and have lived in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for three years immediately before this unless you meet one of the exceptions detailed on www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan/eligibility
  • studying with a college or training organisation in England approved for public funding
  • enrolling on an eligible course at Level 3 to 6 which includes A levels, Access to HE Diplomas and other vocational qualifications.

How to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan?

  • At the time of booking, tell us that you are interested in applying for the Advanced Learner Loan.
  • You may be asked to pay a small deposit, depending on the course, which is refunded when full funding is received.
  • We will arrange for a ‘Learning and funding information' letter to be sent to you – you'll need this for your application as it contains the details of your fitness course.
  • After this, you can register and apply on the gov.uk website.
  • We will support you with your loan application during enrolment
  • You will receive a letter confirming your loan – usually within 4-6 weeks if you apply online.

You'll find more information about the Advanced Learner Loan and repaying your loan on the gov.uk website.
